Error code: 12001,
12156, or 12152
Error: The protection
that you’re attempting to install on this device is not working. Try again
using the compatible version.
Error: Serial number
not valid.
What to do if you still
run into a problem
If the above
instruction did not work, the McAfee Pre-Install Tool might need to be used.
The Pre-Install Tool makes your computer eligible for McAfee app installation.
Download the tool to Pre-Install.
NOTE: Save the file to
a temporary location like your desktop.
Double-click on the
Pre-Install_Tool.exe file, and follow the instructions.
Read the warning
letter, and click OK to approve the modifications.
Upon completion of
Preinstall Tool:
Click RIGHT.
Click Close.
Turn your computer back
on.
